The 2014/15 season saw Orlando Pirates finish in a disappointing fourth place on the Absa Premiership log, a full 19 points adrift of champions and arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The Buccaneers were also unable to win one of the three domestic trophies up for grabs, losing in the final of the MTN8 to Chiefs before being eliminated from the Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup in the semifinals and last 16 respectively.

The Soweto giants endured the tragic death of their goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa and the departure of coach Vladimir Vermezovic, leaving Eric Tinkler to take charge.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder has done a fine job in charge of the team, but in 2015/16 he will be expected to turn Pirates into contenders for major honours once again.
