Bechem United

Bechem United are one of the three newcomers to the Ghanaian Premier League for the 2011/12 season.

The club gained promotion to the Premier League after finishing top of their zone in the middle league last May.

In May 2010, the consortium managing the club Atlas Sports Management, withdrew their affiliation from the Ghana Football Association after claims by the club that there are some underhand dealings against it. But after behind-the-scene talks, the club rescinded their decision and re-joined the Ghana FA.

Experienced administrator Kingsley Osei Bonsu popularly known as Lord Zico took over the club and steered them to promotion.

Bechem United traditionally have been breeding young Ghanaian talents for export to Europe with Fiorentina’s Daniel Kofi Agyei and Genoa striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom the latest to join the exodus train.

The club will play all their home games at the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium until the Premier League Board endorses their home grounds in Bechem.

Bechem
United will be counting on the experience of goalkeeper Ransford Kudjo,
youngsters Eric Fordjour and Papa Yaw Yeboah with the sole aim of
avoiding relegation in their first season in the top-flight.
