Highlands Park FC

Highlands Park sealed their return to the top tier of South African club football for the first time in 24 years after winning the 2015-16 Premier Soccer League promotion/relegation playoffs.

The Lions of the North, who were reborn in 2003, fought their way back up the South African football ladder, and having won the Vodacom League (ABC Motsepe) in 2011, the club repeated the feat in 2014, going on to an 11th place finish on the log standings in what was their first season back in the National First Division.

Originally created in 1959, the club has been through several name variations, but is now back to its original name of Highlands Park FC, and flying high once again following a second place finish in the NFD last season.

Highlands Park FC is a 10 time winner of the NFL Cup. The winning streak started in 1960 and continued to 1977. Years won were 1960 – 1968, 1973, 1975 and 1977.

The club is also the the proud winners of the NPSL in 1980 and the Vodacom league in 2011 and 2014.

The Tembisa-based club play their home games at Makhulong Stadium and are coached by Allan Freese; famous for winning the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout title with Platinum Stars in the same season.
