Zambia U17 will now play Malawi and The Seychelles in Group C following the revised draws made on Wednesday of the 2021 COSAFA U17 Cup in Lesotho.
COSAFA revised the group stage draws after the late entry of Zimbabwe in both the Boys and Girls Football Tournaments that will this year be played under the aegis of the AUSC Region 5 Games that Lesotho is hosting from November 30 to December 8 in Maseru.
2020 COSAFA U17 Cup runners-up Zambia were originally in Group A together with Eswatini, Mauritius, Madagascar and hosts Lesotho in what was a two-pool tournament but has not been adjusted into a three-group event.
Holders South Africa are now in Group B where they have been drawn against Angola, Botswana and Mauritius.
Lesotho is in Group A alongside Eswatini, Madagascar and Zimbabwe.
The three group winners and best second place finisher in the preliminary stage will advance to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, in the Girls U17 event that was initial a round-robin competition, last year’s runners-up Zambia are in Group A where they have been drawn against Botswana, Comoros and last minute entry Zimbabwe.
South Africa headline Group B where will play Mauritius and another late entry Namibia.
The two top finishers from each group will advance to the semifinals as a new champion is set to be crowned this season in the absence CECAFA Zone guest side Tanzania who won the 2020 title.
