A former Al Ahly star recently mentioned that Pitso Mosimane lost the dressing room at the club following his exit from the Egyptian giants.
Al Ahly and Mosimane cut ties earlier this week, with the South African mentor ending a short but highly successful period with the club.
In nearly two years with the Egyptian side, the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach managed to claim two CAF Champions League titles, two CAF Super Cup medals, while claiming the Egyptian League and Cup titles along the way.
However, following the club’s recent loss in the CAF CL final against Wydad Casablanca, Mosimane and Al Ahly parted ways with former club star Mohamed Nagy Gedo claiming that Mosimane lost the dressing room.
“The relationship between Mosimane and Al Ahly board got to its limits,” Gedo said as per KingFut.
“Mosimane thought that Al Ahly is like Sundowns, he thought people wouldn’t criticise him if he wins trophies.
“He also lost the locker room and players’ support after criticizing them publicly, like Mohamed Sherif and Hossam Hassan.
“Al Ahly has been struggling with Mosimane in recent games, it was his worst period with the team. I believe he chose the right time to leave.”
