After getting the sack as Egypt head coach back in March, Roger De Sa has revealed that Carlos Queiroz is in talks to return as the Pharaoh’s mentor.
The Egyptian Football Association sacked Queiroz earlier this year after failing to guide the national team to 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification.
Ehab Galal was then appointed soon thereafter, however, after an indifferent start to their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and a 4-1 defeat to South Korea in a friendly match, Galal was shown the door just three matches into his tenure with Egypt.
With the EFA recently coming out in mentioning that Queiroz is the front runner for the hot seat, given his positive standing with Egypt, De Sa confirmed that talks to rehire Queiroz are in progress.
“Negotiations [with the EFA] are already underway,” the former Orlando Pirates coach told ON Time Sports, as per KingFut.
“He [Queiroz] told me he hasn’t made a decision yet and would not talk about it until Monday. I don’t know what his decision will be, but we always talk to each other.”
“Returning to coach Egypt is not an issue for him, but of course, the final decision is in his hands.”
