Former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane recently revealed one of the reasons he chose Egypt as a destination in his trophy laden career after parting ways with the Red Devils.
Mosimane became the Al Ahly coach back in October 2020 and subsequently went on to win numerous trophies in Egypt. Given the cut throat nature at Al Ahly, where mentors have little to no margin for error, Mosimane’s short spell with the African giants was a success.
Jingles’ last attempt at silverware for Al Ahly came in the form of the CAF Champions League final, where the club suffered a 2-0 defeat against Wydad Casablanca on May 30.
In all, Mosimane managed to win two CAF Champions League titles, two CAF Super Cup honours, while also claiming the Egyptian League and Cup trophies along the way.
That said, Mosimane took to his Twitter account recently where he reserved a special message for former Egyptian coach, Hassan Shehata.
The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach mentioned that Shehata was one of the reasons why he came to Egypt after he was encouraged by the legendary figure to ply his trade in the country.
“The Legendary Coach who conquered AFCON,” Mosimane tweeted.
“You are one of the reasons that made me come to Egypt.
“We spent many days together in Morocco (CAF Pro Licence), and at dinner you kept telling me to try and work in Egypt.
“It was an honour to listen to that amazing journey.”
