Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum is convinced that his team will get stronger as the Ghana Premier League season progresses after opening proceedings with a 0-0 draw against Heart of Lions on Sunday.

Ogum returned to the helm in the off-season, having guided the Porcupine Warriors to a record 24th domestic title in 2021-22 before making a surprise departure soon afterwards.

The Kumasi giants endured a disappointing 2022-23 campaign, relinquishing the title to Medeama after finishing eight points off the pace in fourth place under the stewardship of Abdul Gazale, who replaced Seydou Zerbo in March.

Ogum admits there is plenty to improve upon, although he saw enough from his players at the Baba Yara Stadium on the opening weekend to suggest positive results will soon come.

“So, to me what I saw today is good for individual players. But then we can do better. It’s good, better, best. So, what I saw was good. I’m okay with it,” the 45-year-old tactician said.

“I don’t have any doubt this team that as the league progresses, we will get better in offensive and defense. We create more chances and we can win games. So, I’m very confident.”

Ogum’s side will go in search of their first league win when they travel to Bibiani Park to take on Bibiani Gold Stars on Friday, September 22.
