Al Ahly winger Hussein El Shahat has revealed that he is the subject of offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The 32-year-old, who played for UAE’s Al Ain between 2017 and 2019, has long been a transfer target for Arabian Gulf clubs thanks to his stellar performance for the Cairo giants.

“I have received many offers from Saudi and Emirati clubs but I will never force a move away from Al Ahly. I wish to finish my career at Al Ahly,” stated El Shahat.

Since joining the Red Eagles in 2019, El Shahat has been a key part of their success, helping the Egyptian club win four CAF Champions League titles in the last five years.

Al Ahly are expected to reject any offer to sell their star ahead of one of the biggest seasons in the club’s history, as they will represent Africa in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup next summer.

El Shahat added, “It is an honour to play for Al Ahly. I have always been a massive Al Ahly fan and I did everything to achieve my dream and wear the red jersey.”

Reflecting on another successful season, in which he helped Al Ahly win a domestic treble, the Champions League and a bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup in (where El Shahat broke the record as the player with most appearances in the competition’s history), the winger noted: “It has been a very long season but we fought to the very end.

“We didn’t rest after winning the Champions League title because we had a fierce competition with Pyramids on the league title. It was a tough battle but we know how to win despite the challenges.”
