While the CAF Champions League commenced on Tuesday, the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, with defending champions Zamalek taking on Black Bulls in Cairo.

Zamalek will begin their title defence against Mozambique outfit Black Bulls at the Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Egyptian giants faced RS Berkane in the 2024 final back in May, with the two-legged affair ending in a 2-2 aggregate scoreline. While RS Berkane claimed a 2-1 win in the first-leg on home soil, Zamalek sealed the deal with a 1-0 win in the return fixture and ultimately bagged the trophy on the away goals rule.

The current CAF Confederations Cup kings were drawn alongside Black Bulls, Al Masry and Enyimba in Group D and have much expectations placed on themselves to make it through to the next phase of the competition.

Elsewhere, three-time CAF Confederations Cup winners CS Sfaxien will go toe-to-toe with Algerian club CS Constantine at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Group A on Wednesday evening. Also, Simba will host Bravo do Maquis at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in the adjacent fixture in Group A.

Then, South Africa will be represented by Stellenbosch FC in this year’s edition of the competition as they face Stade Malien at Stade du Mars in their initial Group B assignment.
