Raja Casablanca have reportedly earmarked Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Romain Folz as the man to turn their fortunes around this season.
Ricardo Sa Pinto has yet to record a single win since taking charge of the Green Eagles on October 10 and a 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Wydad Casablanca on November 22 left his team languishing in 11th place in the Botola Pro after 11 matches.
Raja also made a disappointing start to their CAF Champions League campaign after suffering a 2-0 defeat to fellow Moroccan side AS FAR in their Group B opener on Tuesday.
Sa Pinto is already the third coach appointed by the Moroccan champions since Josef Zinnbauer departed the Mohammed V Stadium in July, with Rusmir Cviko lasting just two months at the helm and Abdelkrim Jinani briefly overseeing first-team matters on a caretaker basis before Sa Pinto’s arrival.
However, the Casablanca giants are thought to be considering yet another change and have fixed their gaze on Folz, who returned to South Africa in July after working at FIFA’s High-Performance department.
The French-Moroccan is currently doing a course in Mauritania for his CAF A License as he currently holds a UEFA Pro License, which prohibits him from being in the dugout for games on the African continent.
Folz missed the CAF Champions League clash with AS Maniema Union on Tuesday and will also be absent when Sundowns take on Sekhukhune United at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
