African club of the century fire coach Ogum

Ghanaian football powerhouse Asante Kotoko have parted ways with their head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.


The 47-year-old leaves Porcupine Warriors in fourth place in the Ghanaian Premier League (GPL) standings, having registered 13 wins, eight draws, and seven defeats.


Kotoko are record 25-time GPL title champions and two-time CAF Champions League winners and were adjudged the African club of the century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).


Ogum, who is a Sports Psychologist and Educationist, was in his second stint as Kotoko’s coach, having guided the team to the 2021/22 GPL title.


“Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has this afternoon parted company with Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum,” a club statement read.


“This decision was reached following constructive discussions between both parties, with a shared understanding that it is in the best interest of the club at this time.


“We thank Coach Ogum for his dedication and service to the club, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.


“We urge our supporters to remain calm and continue to support the club during this transition. Further updates will be communicated in due course.”
