West Brom midfielder Stephane Sessegnon scored a brace to hand Benin a 2-0 win over Sao Tome e Principe in their 2015 African Nations Cup qualifier at the Estádio Nacional on Saturday.
It is a crucial win away from home which means Sao Tome e Principe will have to score three goals in Benin in the second leg to make it into the qualifiers proper.
It was a historic day for Sao Tome e Principe who hosted Benin for the first time, but they found the going tough against a well-oiled Benin side.
Benin dominated the game from the word go and probably should have won by more than two goals.
The away side offered very little in attack and never really threatened the Benin goal.
Benin will be highly confident of qualification when they play host in the second leg on 1 June 2014.
