Rwanda beat Congo in a penalty shoot-out to qualify for the Group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 qualifiers, after the two sides drew 2-2 on aggregate.
The Red Devils had secured a 2-0 home win in Pointe-Noire a fortnight ago before falling on the same mark at the Nyamirambo Stadium.
Striker Michel Ndahinduka opened the score in the 53rd minute for the locals, with KF Tirana’s Ugandan-born attacking midfielder Meddie Kagere adding number two six minutes later to put the two teams on equal footing over the two legs.
The match ended in a stalemate and Amavubi were the most accurate from the spot, winning the tie four penalties to three.
Rwanda advance to Group A of the final round of qualifiers, where they will be battling South Africa, Nigeria and Sudan to book their spot for the competition’s finals in Morocco.
