Senegal too strong for Botswana

Senegal registered their second win in Group G when they defeated Botswana 2-0 in their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Botswana National Stadium on Wednesday night.

Sadio Mane fired the Lions of Teranga ahead in the first half, while Dame N’Doye added a second in the closing stages of the match.

The first chance fell for the visitors in the 3rd minute but N’Doye saw his solid effort kept out by Modiri Marumo.

The Botswana goalkeeper was helpless though in the 33rd minute as N’Doye played a defence-splitting pass for Mane to finish from inside the box.

The visitors made sure of the result in the 84th minute when a cross from the right found N’Doye in space inside the box and the Lokomotiv Moscow forward responded by placing the ball into the back of the net.

The result leaves Senegal in first place with six points from two matches, while Botswana are in last place with zero points.

Senegal will look to extend their lead at the top of the standings when they meet Tunisia twice in October, while Botswana will aim to redeem themselves against fellow strugglers Egypt.
