Al AhIi secure late draw

by Neil Greig

Sun June 08, 10:15

It took an injury time penalty kick for Al Ahli Benghazi to secure a 1-1 draw away at ES Setif in the CAF Champions League on Saturday evening.

It was thanks to Abdelrahman Fetori for staying composed and netting from the penalty spot in the 91st minute.

Having beaten ES Tunis and drawn with CS Sfaxien in the opening two Group B fixtures, Algerian outfit Setif had a great opportunity to enhance their chances of qualifying from the Group by beating the Libyan side.

The Algerians looked as if they had done the job at the Stade du 8 Mai when Rachid Nadji scored his second goal of the group stages in the 44th minute.

The ball fell kindly for the 26-year-old who went around visiting goalkeeper Wisam El Boudi before scoring a scrappy goal.

Nadji went close to netting a second in the latter stages of the second 45, but he had an attempt cleared off the line.

Libyan side Al Ahli, however, did not give up and when they were awarded a late spot-kick, Fetori stood up and made no mistake.

The race for a spot in the semi-finals remained wide open in Group B.
