Bidvest Wits took a big step toward the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 3-0 win over Swaziland Royal Leopards on Saturday evening.
The first leg, preliminary round match at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening saw Gavin Hunt’s side rack up a fine victory that makes them clear favourites to advance into the first round.
After dominating most of the first half, the Clever Boys opened the scoring five minutes before the break when Ben Motshwari found the back of the net.
After the restart, Wits picked up where they left off in the first half and doubled their advantage when Tebogo Moerane provided a perfect cross for Sthembiso Ngcobo to head home a second goal.
And the former Free State Stars and Kaizer Chiefs striker completed his brace a few minutes later to take the score to 3-0, while Vincent Pule missed a great chance to add to their advantage.
Nonetheless, Wits will be confident of retaining or adding to their aggregate lead in the return leg at Lobamba Stadium on February 28. The winners will face either Volcan Club (Comoros) or Petro de Luanda (Angola) in the next round.
