Swaziland minnows Royal Leopards continued their impressive form in the CAF Confederation Cup when they defeated DR Congo giants AS Vita 1-0 in Lobamba on Saturday afternoon.

Having already overcome South Africa’s Bidvest Wits and Angola’s Petro de Luanda in the previous two qualifying rounds, the Simunye-based club is now in position to complete a hat-trick of upsets after claiming victory in this second round, first leg match at Somhlolo National Stadium.

Leopards took the lead in the first half and were able to hold onto their advantage through to the final whistle despite the best efforts of Vita, who were runners-up in the Champions League last year and entered the tie as favourites after a comfortable 3-1 aggregate win over Mozambique’s Ferroviario da Beira in the previous round.

The DRC giants will look to turn the tables on Leopards in the return match in Kinshasa on May 3.
