A Kermit Erasmus hat trick gave Orlando Pirates a stunning 3-0 victory over CF Mounana in the CAF Confederation Cup in Soweto.
The result gave Bucs a 5-2 aggregate win and puts Eric Tinkler's men into the next round of the continental competition.
It was Kermit Erasmus scored three times to give Orlando Pirates a stunning 3-0 victory at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
It did not take long for Bucs to get into some decent goal scoring positions, but for the opening stages of the game they left their scoring boots at home. Thabo Matlaba and Erasmus were getting into good positions but took a while to find their target range.
Then, after Thamsanqa Gabuza put a header just over the crossbar from a corner kick, Erasmus opened the scoring after 24 minutes when he sidefooted from close range following an excellent, early cross from the right flank by Sifiso Myeni.
Four minutes later, Erasmus netted number two. This time Myeni found Erasmus with a defence-splitting pass and he went around the goalkeeper before expertly firing in with his left foot from a tight angle.
Erasmus got his hat trick in the 57th minute when he rounded the keeper once more and slotted into an empty net from close range. Gabuza had done really well to find Erasmus following Issa Sarr’s through pass.
And second half substitute Lehlohonolo Majoro nearly made it four with a chipped attempt on goal, but the Mounana keeper made an excellent recovery save.
