Former African champions Al Ahly clinched a 2-1 victory over Club Africain in their CAF Confederation Cup clash on Sunday.
Despite missing some key players for injuries and suspensions, Ahly managed to come from behind and earn a valuable home win. The second leg will be played in Tunisia on 7 June.
It was the Tunisian side Club Africain that opened the scoring in the 36 minute with a goal that came from Imed Minyeoui, who was unmarked at the far post for an easy tap-in.
But just before the half time break Ahmed Abdel-Zaher netted an equaliser for Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly and went into the half time break leading 2-0.
In the second half, long-serving Ahly striker, Emad Meteb, did what he does best and came up with a winning goal for his side. He scored in the 64th minute with a low shot from inside the area.
