Al Ahly clinched a 1-0 victory over Etoile du Sahel all thanks to Walid Soliman’s goal in the first half, which saw them move to the top of their CAF Confederation Cup group on Saturday
Coming to this match, Etoile had won their opening two games whilst Al Ahly were aiming for a win and a place on top of their group.
It was Al Ahly who started bringing the heat as Emad Meteb pulled in a great volley, but it ended wide of the target.
In the 30th minute, Meteb took a rasping shot at goal, but the Etoile goalkeeper was well alert.
Five minutes later Meteb tried his luck again with a spectacular bicycle kick, but his shot was well cleared.
After all that effort it was Walid Soliman who finally found the break for Al Ahly, as he netted a beautiful volley giving his side a 1-0 lead.
Towards the dying minutes of the first half Hossam Ghaly missed a golden opportunity to double Al Ahly's lead and this saw the first half ending with a 1-0 advantage to the Egyptians.
In the second half Al Ahly maintained their lead very well as they kept possession and starved Etoile of the ball.
Despite Etoile trying to make some effort into finding an equalizer, Al Ahly were very strong at the back and that saw them winning the match 1-0.
