Brockie, Nkhatha howlers overshadow frustrating night for SuperSport

Both Jeremy Brockie and Kingston Nkhatha missed clear-cut chances in the second-half as SuperSport United were held to a goalless draw by Chippa United in an Absa Premiership clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Perfect playing conditions welcomed the teams in Atteridgeville with a free-flowing, end-to-end encounter on the cards.

The game, though, failed to live up to its billing in the opening stanza with neither side able to create a single noteworthy chance at goal. Michael Morton's 25th minute strike the only shot on target.

Dan Malesela was so unimpressed with his troops that the Chippa United coach made two substitutes in the 37th minute. The pair of Buyani Sali and David Zulu pulled off in favour of Menzi Masuku and Lerato Manzine.

After what was a rather lackluster first-half, the game threatened to spark into life three minutes after the break.

Following good work by Thuso Phala down the right-flank, the ball fell to Nkhahta and with only the Chllli Boys goalkeeper to beat, the Zimbabwe international failed in doing just that.

Daniel Akpeyi with a good save; but in all honesty the former Kaizer Chiefs man should have put the Tshwane outfit a goal up.

Matsatsantsa had another chance to open the scoring in the 59th minute, but somehow Jeremy Brockie's header attempt failed to cross the line with Akpeyi alert at his back post.

Brockie had a chance to steal all three points for Matsatsantsa at the death, but the New Zealand international scuffed his attempt wide with the goal at his mercy - the game ending with the rather unexpected scoreline of 0-0.
