Benin booked their spot in the final round of qualifying for the 2018 African Nations Championship after beating Togo in a penalty shoot-out after their two leg qualifier finished 2-2 on aggregate.

The first leg between the two nations ended 1-1 in Togo last weekend after goals from Marcellin Koukpo and Koidjo Sewonou.

On Sunday, July 23 at the Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou the second leg ended 1-1 after goals from Wariss Aboky and Elie Sewonou, leaving the aggregate score 2-2 after two legs.

This resulted in the two nations going into a penalty shoot-out to decide who would progress to the next stage of qualifiers – Benin showed nerves of steel to win on penalties.

Benin will now face Nigeria in the final phase of qualification to reach CHAN 2018 in Kenya.
