Democratic Republic of Congo scored a late goal to hold Liberia to a 1-1 draw in a Group G 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia on Sunday.
The result moves the Leopards level on four points with Zimbabwe who played to a 1-1 draw against Congo in Brazzaville earlier today. Liberia remain winless and rooted to the foot of the group standings.
Liberia, backed by a passionate crowd and former football great and current President George Weah, had the better of the chances in the opening half, but failed to alter the scoreboard before the break.
The opening goal finally came in the 62nd minute of the clash through William Jebor, who was earlier in the week confirmed as the Lone Stars new captain.
DR Congo, though, found the equalizer with eight minutes of regulation time remaining as Elia Meschak fired the ball home to rescue a point for the visitors.
