Rwanda scored late in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Group H match to draw 1-1 with Guinea at the Stade Régional de Nyamirambo in Kigali on Tuesday.

The draw was Rwanda’s first point in their qualifying campaign while the result for Guinea means they are assured of qualification to next year’s Afcon in Cameroon.

Guinea currently top the Group H standings with 10 points, followed by Ivory Coast in second place with six points and CAR in third place with three points (although these two nations are currently in action against one another – make sure to check the match report for that game later today).

Rwanda are last in Group H with one point.

The match itself at the Stade Régional de Nyamirambo on Tuesday saw Guinea controlling the flow of play from the onset, but their finishing was poor in the final third.

Nonetheless, the visitors persisted and opened the scoring just after the hour mark courtesy of a goal from Jose Kante, 1-0.

Rwanda tried to find their way back into the match but went into the half time break trailing by a goal.

The second half saw Rwanda putting more of a concerted effort in attack, but squandered possession in the final third with bad decision making.

Still, buoyed by the home crowd Rwanda pushed forward and found an equaliser in the 79th minute thanks to a strike from Jacques Tuyisenge, 1-1.

Rwanda threw players forward in the final ten minutes in search of a winner, but Guinea held on for the draw and a point that guarantees them a spot at Afcon 2019.
