Seychelles fought back to hold Comoros to a 1-1 draw in the 2018 COSAFA Cup Group A match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Pirates saw most of the ball in the opening stages of the game and they threatened first through Karl Hall 10 minutes into the encounter.
The attacking midfielder hit the back of the net, but his goal disallowed because he was offside as Comoros survived a scare.
Les Coelacantes then grew in confidence as the match progressed as they began applying some pressure on the Pirates defence.
Said Bakari unleashed a left-footed shot which sailed just over the crossbar in the 36th minute as Comoros searched for the opening goal.
The two teams were struggling to create clear cut chances and the two goalkeepers were not seriously tested.
The score was 0-0 at the interval between Comoros and Seychelles following a tightly contested first-half.
The first chance of the second-half fell for Seychelles midfielder Hall, who managed to connect with a corner-kick, but he headed wide of the target.
The Pirates were left to rue that missed chance as Les Coelacantes broke the deadlock through Mohamed M’Changama.
The striker hit the back of the net with a good header - beating Seychelles goalkeeper Michel in the 61st minute to make it 1-0 to Comoros.
Leeroy Coraly was then introduced by Seychelles in the 78th minute as they searched for the equalizing goal.
The attacker, who proved to be a super-sub, made an immediate impact as he scored in the 85th minute to make it 1-1 for Seychelles.
Comoros then launched late attacks in search of a winning goal, but Seychelles stood firm at the back and ultimately, the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
