Mohamed Musa Eldei scored twice as Sudan’s Al Hilal got off to winning start in the African Champions League on Friday night but had to battle for all three points as they edged Platinum FC of Zimbabwe 2-1.
Eldei scored on both sides of half-time as Al Hilal went 2-0 up but there was an uncomfortable finish as Never Tigere pulled one back.
Eldein scored in the 26th and 70th min with Tigere pulling one back with nine minutes left on the clock of the Group A game.
Hilal have now lost only one of their last 12 home games in Champions League action.
Platinum had been hampered in the build-up to the game by the factv their baggage, including balls and kit, did not arrive on the same flights as them, left behind in transit in Addis Ababa.
