Two goals in six second-half minutes helped secure a 3-0 victory for TP Mazembe over struggling Zamalek in their CAF Champions League Group A clash in Lubumbashi on Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Mazembe broke the deadlock when Jackson Muleka netted on the hour mark to the delight of the packed home crowd.
And the points were secured six minutes later when veteran forward Tresor Mputu supplied a neat finish to put the home side in complete control.
They added a third for the cherry on top with five minutes remaining as Muleka netted a second to complete the rout.
Mazembe remain unbeaten at home in the last decade of Champions League action, with their previous defeat against Sudanese side Al Hilal in October 2009. During that time they have had 37 wins and nine draws in 46 matches.
Zamalek’s problems on the road continued with just a single victory in 10 away Champions League matches.
Mazembe now travel to Zambian side Zesco United next Saturday, while Zamalek host Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto on the same day.
