Etoile du Sahel overcame Al Hilal 2-1 in the CAF Champions League Group B match at the Al-Hilal Stadium on Saturday.
As a result, Tunisian outfit Etoile climbed to the top of the group standings, while Sudanese giants Al Hilal moved down to the third spot.
The Jewel Coast contained the Blue Wave in the opening stages of the match, but the home side improved as the game progressed.
The deadlock was broken on the half-hour mark and it was Waleed Bakhet, who beat Etoile goalkeeper Makram Bediri to make it 1-0 to Al Hilal.
However, parity was restored five minutes later by Omer Hassan Behaldeen as he netted an own goal to make it 1-1.
The two teams were locked at 1-1 during the half-time break in the city of Omdurman.
Al Hilal and Etoile attacked each other after the restart as the two teams searched for more goals and it was the visitors, who hit the back of the net.
Iheb Msakni beat Jamal Salim in the Al Hilal goal-posts to make it 2-1 to Etoile in the 71st minute as the away side took the lead for the first time.
Both teams finished the match with 10 players after Al Hilal midfielder Nasr El Shighail and Bediri were both sent off in the closing stages of the match.
