Bidvest Wits drew 0-0 with Al Nasr SC in the Caf Confederation Cup Group C match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday evening.
As a result, the Clever Boys remained third on the group standings with three matches played, while Libyan giants Al Nasr also remained fourth on the table.
The Clever Boys dominated the match from the start with Gift Motupa and Elias Pelembe looking lively for the home side.
Former South Africa under-23 international Motupa had a chance to break the deadlock following a good move.
However, Al Nasr goalkeeper Rabiaa Al Rasheed produced a great low save to deny Motupa 15 minutes into the match.
Gavin Hunt’s men continued to search for the opening goal, but Al Nasr defended in numbers at the back most of the time.
Motupa found some space outside the visitors’ box after the half-hour mark and he unleashed a shot which flew over the crossbar.
Al Nasr were able to contain Wits and the score was 0-0 during the half-time break.
The Clever Boys continued to dominate the match in the second-half, but they were wasteful in front of goal.
Terrence Dzvukamanja placed his header over the crossbar before Motupa fired wide of the target from close range.
Ivan Mahangwahaya, who scored in the qualifying rounds, was introduced by coach Hunt as the hosts looked to grab a late goal.
Al Nasr coach Mohamed Alkikly reacted by introducing Ezuldeen Eisay inside the final 10 minutes of the encounter.
The two teams launched late attacks, but they were unable to score on the night and Wits were held to a 0-0 draw by Al Nasr.
