A ten man Ethiopia stunned Mali to come from a goal behind to win 3-2 in a Group B, African Cup of nations qualifier away from home on Wednesday night.

In their previous encounter four days ago in Addis Ababa, the Malians won by a comfortable 2-0 margin, however, this time around Ethiopia turned the corner.

The hosts were the first side to find the net after Bakary Sako scored in the 31st minute.

Five minutes later the visitors equalised through a goal by Omod Okwury.

Towards the end of the first half, the South African-based Getaneh Kebede gave the Ethiopians the lead when he scored in the extra time of the first stanza.

In the second half, the visitors saw their goalscorer, Kebede, being shown his marching orders and that allowed Mali to find an equaliser.

They equalised in the 68th minute through a strike by Mustapha Yatabare.

As the game approached the dying minutes, Abebaw Butako found the net for the Ethiopians to give them a well-fought victory.

The win is Ethiopia’s first in Group B and still sees them on the bottom of the standings with three points while Mali are second with six points.
