DR Congo suffered a 1-0 loss to Iraq in Sharjah on Tuesday, in the second leg of their friendly double-header with the Mesopotamia Lions.
Already defeated 2-1 in the first leg last Saturday, the Leopards end their FIFA window’s Middle-East tour empty-handed.
The lone goal of the match was scored by Yaser Safaa Kasim on the hour mark.
However, the Congolese camp allowed national coach Florent Ibenge to give some international experience to many young talents, while securing the allegiance to DR Congo of several players with dual nationality, including Switzerland-based keeper Joël Kiassumbua and PSV Eindhoven defender Abel Tamata.
The Leopards, who sealed a third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations Equatorial Guinea 2015, will now be focused on the 2017 AFCON qualifying campaign that is scheduled to kick off in June.
