A goal ten minutes from time courtesy of Germano Luis-Mendes saw Guinea-Bissau beat Kenya 1-0 in a Group E, Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Sunday.
It is Kenya’s second consecutive 1-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau after going down by the same scoreline four days earlier at the Estádio 24 de Setembro which ends their chances of playing in the 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
Idrissa Camara scored the only goal of the game in the match on 23 March 2016 in the opening half, but on Sunday it was Germano Luis-Mendes who found the back of the net in the 81st minute.
A section of Kenyan fans became unruly and started pelting the match officials with missiles after the home side conceded the goal which looked questionable.
At first the goal appeared to have not crossed the line, but video replays showed otherwise.
Policemen had to be called upon to restore order in vain as the situation went from bad to worse, leading to match being called off.
As expected, CAF will act shift on the matter, and most definitely, Guinea Bissau will be awarded the match, with Kenya attracting heavy penalties including a possible ban.
