What promised to be an entertaining match ended with no goals as Stade Malien and Al Ahly played out a stalemate in their CAF Confederation Cup Group A match on Sunday night.
Underdogs Malien were expected to take full advantage of the Egyptian giants Al Ahly, as they came to this match without seven of their players.
In the first half it was Ahly who had more ball possession and dominated the match.
Sabri Rahil’s shot could not find the target as he attempted to find an opening goal for the visitors.
Amr Gamal had a great chance to score what could have been a winning goal, but wasted a good opportunity.
This saw both teams going to the half time break goalless.
In the second half, Al Ahly made sure that they put Malien on the back foot.
Mahmoud Trezeguet tried to break the home side’s defence, but couldn’t find a way through and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
