Zambia were held to a 2-2 draw by Cameroon in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CAF) Group B match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
As a result, Chipolopolo secure a spot finish in Group B, while the Indomitable Lions finish third with the two former African champions having failed to qualify for the World Cup.
The hosts dominated the match in the early stages and Augustine Chama forced Cameroon goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa into a decent save.
However, the 21-year-old shot-stopper was beaten in the 25th minute when Patson Daka scored with his left foot to make it 1-0 to Zambia.
However, Zambia's lead only lasted for six minutes as André-Frank Zambo Anguissa scored with a long range shot to make it 1-1 for Cameroon.
Chipolopolo then applied some pressure on the Indomitable Lions defence with the half-time break fast approaching.
Ondoa denied Brian Mwila with a good diving save in the 35th minute, before pulling off a comfortable save to deny Enock Mwepu seven minutes later.
The Indomitable Lions shot-stopper's saves ensured that the first-half ended with Zambia and Cameroon locked at 1-1.
The second-half was dominated by Chipolopolo and they managed to regain their lead just after the hour-mark.
Brian Mwila, who is on the books of South African side Platinum Stars, beat Ondoa with a good finish to make it 2-1 to Zambia.
It was nearly 3-1 to the hosts in the 72nd minute, but this time Mwepu's header hit the woodwork with Ondoa rooted to the ground.
Zambia were left to rue that missed chance as Banana Yaya scored with a header in stoppage time and the two sides drew 2-2 on the day.
