Lamontville Golden Arrows beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Tuesday night.

As a result, Abafana Bes'thende moved to ninth place on the league standings, while Amakhosi remained fourth on the table.

It took just four minutes for Abafana Bes'thende, who were playing enterprising football, to break the deadlock through Lerato Lamola.

The hard-running striker beat his marker, before firing past Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune to make it 1-0 to Arrows four minutes into the game.

Chiefs were then reduced to 10 men after Leornado Castro was sent off after making a dangerous challenge on Arrows captain Trevor Mathiane.

However, Amakhosi launched attacks and they managed to level matters just before the half-time break.

Joseph Molangoane sent Bernard Parker through on goal and the latter, beat Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva to make it 1-1 for Chiefs.

The score was 1-1 between Arrows and Chiefs at the interval following a lively first-half.

Arrows dominated the opening stages of the second-half and they managed to restore their lead through Lamola in the 48th minute.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic marksman beat Khune with a low effort from close range after some good work by Danny Venter.

Chiefs then took control of the game, but they struggled to penetrate the Abafana Bes'thende defence which was marshalled by Limbikani Mzava.

The Malawi international had to make a goal line clearance from George Maluleka's deflected effort Arrows frustrated Amakhosi in the closing stages of the game.

Arrows' 3-1 win was then sealed by Velemseni Ndwandwe, who scored following a quick counter-attack in stoppage time.
