Former Nigeria U20
star Onazi Ogenyi finally made his debut for Lazio in the Italian Serie A Sunday
when he came on as a second-half substitute.

Ogenyi was a late
replacement for Senad Lulic as Lazio won 2-0 away at Atalanta.

The former My People Academy star said he
was thrilled he finally made his debut and hopes for more appearances next
season.

“I am happy that I finally made my debut. It
was long overdue and I saw it coming, it was a great and nice experience for
me. Playing with Miroslav Klose was massive, he came in before me and we
played a 1-2 pass, which he almost scored from," he told AfricanFootball.com

Sporting jersey number 23, Onazi almost enjoyed
a scoring debut when his goal-bound shot was cleared by an Atalanta defender.

"I almost scored when my shot was
cleared by Atalanta defender after Konko gave me a pass. I want more of this
next term,” Onazi reported.

He also told AfricanFootball.com the senior
players like Miroslav Klose and Ayo Makinwa encouraged him after the match.

“Klose gave me a pat on the back and told me
‘good play, you have qualities to be great’,” he said.

Former Eagles striker Makinwa was an unused
substitute.

Lazio have moved to fourth place with 59 points from 37 matches
and are within the bracket for a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League.

Their final match of the season is on Sunday at home to Inter
Milan.
