Union de Douala kick-off their 2014
Confederation Cup campaign on Saturday with their sights already firmly set on
the group phase.

Cameroon’s oldest football club hosts Aslad
Moundou of Chad at the Reunification Stadium in the first leg of their
preliminary round, first leg clash.

Union Douala captain Gustave Moundi has said
they knew very little about their opponents but are very a clear of what their
objective is.

“We are preparing this match against the
Chadian side as we normally do for any other game. But we have no idea at all
about them and will only find out at the stadium.

“Union Sportive’s objective is however to go
as far as possible in this CAF Confederation Cup,” said the “Nassaras” skipper
Gustave Moundi to AfricanFootball.com.

A regular in the continental campaigns, Union
Douala enjoyed African glory 35 years ago when they were crowned in the most
prestigious of all clubs competitions in a penalty shoot-out win against
Ghana’s Hearts of Oak in the final.

“We are aiming for the Group phase of the competition
this year,” added Union’s coach Théophile Feunku, whose side fell to FUS Rabat
of Morocco in the first round of the CAF Champions league last season.
