Held to a goalless draw by Stella Club d’Adjamé on Sunday in Abidjan, in matchday 20 of the Ivorian Ligue 1, AFAD Djékanou are now trailing the podium by eight points.

Coach Amani Yao’s men moved down to fifth place, overtaken by SOA following the ‘Militaires’ surprise 3-0 win over Séwé Sport in San Pedro on Saturday.

This fourth consecutive winless outing is likely to mean the end of AFAD hopes of a continental spot at the end of the season.

As for the ‘Magnans’ from Adjamé, they have now achieved a seven-match unbeaten run to get them in seventh position on the log, eight points clear of the dropping zone with six more games to go.

At the same time at the stade de la Paix in Bouaké, AS Denguélé and Africa Sports d’Abidjan parted ways on the same goalless mark.

That is a poor result for either side who are both fighting for survival in the lower part of the standings.

Africa Sports therefore remain 11th on the log, five points above the danger area while Denguélé stay a mere point ahead of the ‘Aiglons’.
