Liberia got off to a winning start in their quest to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, defeating Lesotho 1-0 in Monrovia on Sunday evening.
The first round, first leg qualifier for next year’s showpiece event in Morocco saw the ‘Lone Stars’ claim a narrow victory to make them favourites to advance to the next phase.
Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Anthony Laffor scored the only goal of the match 40 minutes into the first half.
The second leg will take place next weekend in Maseru, with the Crocodiles looking to overturn the aggregate score.
The winner of the tie will play either Kenya or Comoros for a place in the final group phase of qualifying.
