AS Vita’s Daddy Birori netted a hat-trick to inspire Rwanda to a 3-0 home win over Libya in Kigali this afternoon to advance to the final knockout phase of the 2015 Africa Cup qualifiers.
The Amavubi under a new Coach Stephen Constantine took a 1-0 lead at halftime before adding two more goals after the recess to eliminate the 2014 African Nations Championship winners Libya 3-0 on aggregate.
After a goalless draw in the first leg, the Amavubi who last featured in the 2004 Afcon finals had promised to finish the job at their Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
Birori who has been in good form for AS Vita in the CAF Champions League put Rwanda 1-0 into halftime with a 41st minute goal.
He was back on target in the 64th minute and completed his hat trick in the 73rd minute.
The Amavubi now join other Cecafa member nations Kenya and Uganda in the next phase of the qualifier.
Rwanda will face the winner between Namibia and Congo in July.
