Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia has called time on his international career after failing to make the Elephants World Cup squad.
The 26-year-old whose decision to hang up his boots has surprised many, was one of five players to be cut from coach Sabri Lamouchi's provisional 28-man squad on Sunday.
The CSKA Moscow forward, who scored 20 goals in the Russian Premier League last season, played one game in 2010 edition in South Africa, scoring in the 3-0 win over North Korea.
Doumbia though failed to make the cut for the showpiece event in Brazil with Basel striker Giovanni Sio preferred to the former Young Boys marksman.
Doumbia has made 20 appearances for the Elephants, scoring twice since making his debut in May 2008.
Ivory Coast have been drawn in Group C and will face Colombia, Greece and Japan.
