Sporting Club Gagnoa regained control of the Ivoirian Ligue 1 on Thursday, following their 2-0 away win in Yamoussoukro on the ground of SOA in their matchday 24 encounter.
Former leading duo of Séwé Sport and ASEC Mimosas are now trailing them by two and three points respectively, and will have no choice but to grab the full points against USC Bassam and Africa Sports next week in their rescheduled fixtures.
Undefeated in their last 15 outings, Coach Haïdara Soumaliho’s men appear more and more as serious contenders to win the title race with only two more games to go.
Meanwhile, at the Robert Champroux Stadium, Stella Club d’Adjamé sealed their spot in the top flight ahead of next season with a 1-0 victory over AS Denguélé, thanks to Raphaël Yabré’s lone goal just before the half hour mark.
Which is not the case for ASI d’Abengourou, who remain very much threatened by relegation following their 1-2 home defeat at the hands of CO Korhogo at the Henri Konan Bédié Stadium.
