Vincent Kompany of Belgium booked by referee Djamel Haimoudi

FIFA has selected Algeria’s Djamel Haimoudi to be the referee in-charge of tomorrow’s
match for third place between Brazil and Netherlands in the on-going FIFA 2014 World Cup.
While African teams are back home watching the tournament on screen, Haimoudi and his assistant referees Redouane Achick (Morocco) and Abdelhak Etchili (Algeria) will be flying the African flags high. Japan’s Yuichi Nishimura will be the fourth official for the match will determine is the hosts Brazil can fight to finish third.
The much experienced Haimoudi also handled the group stage matches between Australia v Netherlands, Costa Rica v England and Belgium v USA in the round of 16.
Haimoudi, who has also officiated at the FIFA Confederations Cup last year, the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup, 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup also handled the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
The 43-year old Algerian has also handled crucial games in the lucrative CAF Africa Champions League and CAF Super Cup in 2008.
