Africa Sports d’Abidjan have exited the 51st edition of the Ivory Coast Cup on a 1-0 defeat to USC Bassam in the round of 16 on Thursday.

The winning goal was scored in the 51st minute by Bassam forward Diaby Mohamed following a lightning-quick counterattack led by Kumasi Mian.

The ‘Aiglons’ had missed a golden opportunity a minute earlier with Diomandé Sory hitting the right post of keeper Lepri Melagne.

“The national cup was not a priority to us this season, considering the squad we are working with. Bassam have definitely deserve their victory,” Africa’s assistant coach Bodoua Marcel said after the game.
