Uganda League Champions KCCA FC have included striker Brian Umony on their squad that will travel to Kigali, Rwanda for the 2014 Cecafa Kagame Club Championship.
Umony who was dropped by Tanzania League Champions Azam FC last month and has made a return to the national team will lead KCCA FC’s attack at the regional tournament that runs August 8-24
Club secretary, David Tamale told AfricanFootball.com on Monday
that Umony is now their player, while they have not yet finalized with another Cranes player Jospeh Ochaya who wants to move away from Ghanian side Asante Kotoko. Umony is expected to arrive with the rest of the Cranes team on Tuesday
from Mauritania where they beat the home side 1-0 in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.
Tamale said they are waiting for the tickets to be sent by the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) since the team is meant to be in Kigali by Wednesday
. KCCA FC will open their campaign against Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia on Friday
in what promises to be a thriller.
The Kenyan champions who boost of Uganda Cranes players Daniel Sserunkuma, Godfrey Walusimbi and Geoffrey Kizito is also are handled by former Uganda Cranes tactician Bobby Williamson.
KCCA FC who last won the regional trophy in the 1978 will also field some of their new recruits in the tournament including Cranes defender and former Kiira Young captain Richard Kasagga.
