Zamalek head Coach Hossam Hassan will be on test in Khartoum, Sudan on Friday when his Zamalek side faces Al-Hilal in the last Group A tie of the CAF Champions League.
Hassan, Egypt’s all-time leading scorer who succeeded Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ lost his last game to AS Vita of DR Congo will be hoping to get a morale boosting win.
“We are hoping to play a good game. I have told my team to go and enjoy themselves and collect three points,” Hassan said before they left Egypt on Wednesday.
Zamalek's hopes of reaching the prestigious tournament's semis were dashed after losing to AS Vita Club 1-0 in Alexandria a week ago. Uganda’s Yunus Junior Ssentamu scored the goal after a goalkeeping blunder.
The loss was the first Hassan who was eyeing a winning debut in his second stint with the team. AS Vita Club sealed qualification for the semifinal alongside fellow countrymen TP Mazembe.
Although the two teams were eliminated from Africa’s lucrative competition, both sides will be looking for victory to reconcile their fans.
Zamalek defender Ahmed Dweidar is part of the team despite suffering from a pelvis injury that could sideline him from the match. Midfielder Islam Awad who recovered form muscular pains is also part of the team.
The hosts are expected to rely on Mudathir ‘Careca’ El-Taieb’s and Bakri Al-Madina to steer the team.
