Al Hilal enjoyed a 2-1 home win over Zamalek in their final Group stage encounter of the CAF Champions League on Friday, as both teams exit the tournament.
The Sudanese end their continental campaign on seven points in third place, while Zamalek bring up the rear in their Group A on four points.
That was a well-deserved victory for the home side, who took the lead in the 34th
minute through Mohamed Bashir after a great work by Bakri Al-Madina.
The latter produced an outstanding display against the Cairo giants who, however, managed to equalise at the hour mark with winger Mostafa Fathi jinking his way through their opponents’ defence before smashing the ball past the keeper.
But Al-Madina sealed the win for Al Hilal in the 83rd
minute, finding the back of the net from the edge of the box.
In the other match of the Group, DR Congo pair AS Vita Club and TP Mazembe will battle for first place in Kinshasa on Sunday, with both teams having already secured a last four appearance.
