Akeem Agbetu has said he hopes to lift his new club Le Havre to the French top flight after he signed a two-year contract.
Le Havre reported Agbetu’s acquisition on their website on Thursday.
And in his first interview on the club's official site, the former Nigeria U20 striker said his top target is to win promotion back to Ligue 1 for the oldest football club in France.
"I have signed for two years. I hope that is the beginning of something great,” said the former Nigeria U20 star, who was a free agent.
"I don't have a personal objective, I want Le Havre to get back to Ligue 1. When the team go to the top league, then I would have achieved my goal," he said.
"I saw there are a lot of young talents in this team (Le Havre). There are also older players with experience, and the mix is a good thing. And now, I am looking forward to start training with the team.
"I am motivated to play, but I need a bit of time. The coach, the staff will help me and I hope to contribute something to the team.”
He described himself as a player who could either as a striker or on the wings, adding "I am fast, I am physical and I like to provide some good passes”.
