The Eagles of Mali fancy their chance of qualification to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) if they pick a home win against Ethiopia on Wednesday.

With six points and a good goal difference a win against Ethiopia will see Coach Henry Kasperczak’s team qualify for the 2015 showpiece in Morocco before playing the last two games in Group B.

Kasperczak told AfricanFootball.com in Addis Ababa after beating Ethiopia 2-0 last weekend that they are determined to win the game on Wednesday because it means a lot to them. “We shall not get too excited, but remain focused to be able to pick another win against Ethiopia,” said the coach.

Mali will hope that the duo of Abdoulaye Diaby and Sambou Yatabare who scored last weekend continue with their scoring form to take them to nine points behind Algeria who are enjoying fantastic form after their impressive show at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Mariano Barreto, Ethiopia’s Coach who is under pressure after fans insulted him after the loss last weekend has maintained that he is rebuilding the Ethiopian team and results will not come so quickly. “This is a young team and we are working hard to make them better and better,” he said.

Attack minded players Yussuf Saleh and Gateneh Kabede could however keep the Mali defenders very busy.

After three losses including two at home, Ethiopia are virtually out of contention for a place at the 2015 Afcon finals in Morocco, and perhaps will have to use the matches to prepare for the 2014 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that they hosts next month.
